Dental Implants
Restoring your smile
Restore your smile with implants designed to blend in with your natural teeth, and with proper care and good oral hygiene implants can last many years or even a lifetime.
A dental implant consists of a metal, screwlike post that acts like a root of a tooth and it holds a prosthetic crown or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to gum disease, an injury, or some other reason and who prefer not to wear dentures.
Benefits of Dental Implant Systems:
Needed a dentist as I had not been in two years. Was able to get an appointment the very same day. So professional and easy going service Iv booked my entire family in. Thank guys
Emilia was extremely kind and thoughtful when coming to dealing with my teeth, I was extremely scared but she put me at ease and made me feel at home, I would always recommend Emilia!
How dental implant surgery is performed depends on the type of implant and the condition of your jawbone. Dental implant surgery may involve several procedures. The major benefit of implants is solid support for your new teeth — a process that requires the bone to heal tightly around the implant. Because this bone healing requires time, the process can take months.
Treatment process at Smiles on Harrogate Road
Here at Smiles on Harrogate Road we work in partnership with another practice where they perform the surgery aspect of the implant and once healed Dr Fiona will fit the crown into the implant screw.
First appointment-Fiona will assess the area and carry out a scan (as shown in the photo)
She will record both arches (upper and lower teeth) including the occlusion (patient bite) and then specifically the implant area. This information is needed for the dental lab to produce a crown that fits perfectly.
The shade will also be discussed as well as pre-photos taken of the area
Second appointment-is approx 2-3 weeks later and local anaesthetic may need to be used for tightening the crown into the implant. Radiographs will be taken to check that the crown is seated correctly. The occlusion (bite) will be checked and slight adjustment may be needed.
A follow up call is always carried out days after the second appointment
